Gers. A priest from Auch who passed through Toulouse becomes archbishop of Aix and Arles

Pope Francis appointed Tuesday, July 5, Christian Delarbre Archbishop of Aix and Arles, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, following the broadcast of Monsignor Christophe Dufour, for reasons of age (75 years old). Monsignor Christian Delarbre was until now priest of the archdiocese of Auch (Gers) and rector of the Catholic Institute of Toulouse.
Bishop Christian Delarbre studied at the Séminaire de Toulouse and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Auch on May 19, 1996.
A “career” in the Gers
From 2006 to 2012, he was episcopal vicar for youth ministry and member of the episcopal council. He also exercised the ministry of Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Auch from 2012 to 2018 and was in charge of the formation of permanent deacons of the ecclesiastical province of Toulouse from 2013 to 2018.
It is rector of the Catholic Institute of Toulouse since 2018institute within must he teaches since 1996.
“As a theologian, I know many things about what a bishop is: but I don’t know what it is to be a bishop. I will dedicate the summer to making the place in myself necessary to welcome the grace of the Lord to serve Him in this new mission,” the new archbishop declared in a press release.
Christian Delarbre will be ordained bishop Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at Saint-Sauveur Cathedral in Aix-en-Provence.
