FPÖ rages – excitement about compulsory vaccination in Austria – politics
The compulsory vaccination in Austria is history. But because a certain group of people still needs a vaccination, the FPÖ is raging.
At the end of June, the obligation to vaccinate against the corona virus, which was never actually “sharpened”, was finally buried. The reason for this was that the competent commission, these stocks of experts from the fields of medicine and law, no longer considered them expedient and also unconstitutional. But about a month later, the obligation to vaccinate continues to cause a stir.
Especially in the camp of the FPÖ, it is still making waves. Because even if the vaccination is not mandatory for the general public, it is still a prerequisite for a job in some sectors – and that’s exactly what bothers the freedom fighters massively. “While this unspeakable compulsory vaccination law, which was an embarrassing botch from start to finish, was finally buried in the last National Council session, the current ÖVP interior minister is still sticking to the compulsory vaccination for police applicants,” security spokesman Hannes Amesbauer was quoted as saying in a broadcast.
“overslept developments”
That was “completely incomprehensible” and lacked any logic, according to the politician. He refers to a current parliamentary query response. In this, Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) confirmed that he would stick to the Covid vaccination for “reasons of resilience of the organization both in the case of new admissions to the executive scheme and to the general administrative service”. Namely “up to a changed risk of the risk from Covid-19 and the effect of the vaccination by the responsible authorities”.

The FPÖ security spokesman was surprised at these statements: “Either the minister has different information than the rest of the world or he has completely overslept the last few months.” It is now completely clear that this “forced happiness measure” is not necessary. “I urge the Minister of the Interior to stamp this unsuitable measure immediately and to return to normal here,” Amesbauer concluded.
