The Urban Tennis Tour passes through Toulouse
The third stage of this national operation is planned in the Carrefour Purpan car park.
“A free practice, accessible to all and which is played everywhere”. As indicated by Audrey Moronval, development advisor within the Ligue Occitanie, this is one of the objectives of Urban Tennis, whose national operation is stopping in the Pink City this Wednesday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) in the Carrefour Purpan car park.
“In total, this Urban Tennis Tour, launched by the French Tennis Federation (in collaboration with Carrefour, editor’s note), is organized in five stages. The first two took place in Bordeaux-Mérignac on July 2 and in Aix-en -Provence on July 9. Urban Tennis is playing tennis differently, in free play or in battle, it is also capturing another audience, namely young people outside our clubs to increase the number of players, and it is also to give the desire to play and to create the link between the street and the tennis club”, explains Audrey Moronval. It should be noted that in Haute-Garonne, there is a constant evolution in the number of licensees, marked by a sharp increase in the under 12s.
600 m² of entertainment areas
Particularly fun, Urban Tennis is played on a 6 x 12 meter court, with 21-inch rackets and a foam ball. “We are going to rely on 600m2 of entertainment areas with in particular a graffiti field, a field drawn with chalk and two others without lines. Some fields have nets, others have a barrier or street furniture. As for the competition in battle mode, it is scheduled between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. “, specifies Audrey Moronval.
After Toulouse, the Urban Tennis Tour will move on to Nice on July 16 and Chambourcy on July 20.
