The Serbian technician, Sasa Obradovic, extends his lease on the Rock for three additional seasons.
Returned to AS Monaco in December 2021, Sasa Obradovic (53) had already extended for a year with the Monegasque club at the end of qualification for the EuroLeague playoffs. But the agreement was finally renegotiated but it was renegotiated and the Belgrader now finds himself contracted for three more seasons, i.e. until 2025.
Already in 2019 when he arrived, the Serb had been able to restart the machine. In 2021, it was the same after the ousting of Zvevdan Mitrovic. The club was at the bottom of the EuroLeague hole and the Serbian technician was able to qualify Monaco for the playoffs, an assumed objective of the leaders. If the new defeat in the final of Betclic ÉLITE remains a lasting injury in the Principality, the 1998 world champion does not however have the costs and is reinforced by this decision. Interrogates in an interview on the club’s official websiteSasa Obradovic spoke about the aired season.
This title is missing at the end. Apart from that, when I arrived, the situation was not good. A lot of things had to change within the team for chemistry to be found and created between the players. And when we see the final results, we can say that we have done a very good job given the progress made. We managed to qualify for the top 8 of the Euroleague, which was not at all possible before I arrived. And we went to the final of the French championship. I think it’s also this course in the Euroleague that cost us the title. The resulting fatigue, both physical and mental, got the better of us. We can also retain the interest of the fans which continues to grow, and we have seen it in the stands. This is commendable. We have represented Monaco well on the national and European scene.
Next season, the ambitions will be even or even higher with a primary objective: to win a first title of champion of France.
They will be even higher than in the previous season, and we must not hide it, quite the contrary. Winning the French championship is important for the club, for Monaco, for the fans. And we must establish ourselves even higher in the European landscape in the Euroleague. Next year but also in the future with the seasons that will follow.
