Airbus. 122 jobs will be relocated from Toulouse to Lisbon by 2025
The aeronautical giant Airbus will establish itself a little more in Portugal. By 2025, the company plans to relocate 122 positions from Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) to Lisbon. More broadly, 311 positions in Europe are affected by this relocation, including part in Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom, reports France Blue Occitania in an article published on Monday.
Objective for Airbus: to create a European center bringing together human resources, accounting and finance. According to our colleagues, the company hopes to save money by bringing these activities together in one place while taking advantage of lower labor costs in Portugal.
Union concerns
The future Lisbon hub should also allow the aircraft manufacturer to repatriate certain positions hitherto appointed to subcontractors, particularly in Costa Rica. Already deployed in Lisbon, Airbus would like to eventually create 800 jobs in the capital, including 60 full-time equivalent positions moved from Toulouse.
The management has already committed to find a job for all the people concerned. “Heavy reorganizations to bear for employees and their families”revealed the unions, quoted by France Blue Occitania.
A major contract
According to the local media, negotiations are underway with the management of Airbus, which recalls that 6,000 people have been recruited since the beginning of 2022.
Capital adds that the European aircraft manufacturer announced at the beginning of July that it had won a major order in China: 292 single-aisle aircraft of the A320 family, for four Chinese airlines. This would represent almost 37 billion dollars.
