the program of pre-season friendly matches
3rd in the last French championship, AS Monaco returned to training early to prepare for their third qualifying round for the Champions League. Focus on the calendar of friendly matches of the club of the principality and analysis of the opponents who will challenge the Monegasques throughout this month of July.
4 preparation matches already played for AS Monaco
While all the other L1 clubs have just started their campaign of preparation matches, AS Monaco has already been on the bridge for 4 matches now. For their first friendly meeting, Philippe Clément’s men received their affiliated club, the Belgians of Cercle Bruges at La Turbie on Saturday 25 June. The opportunity to give young players a chance for the Belgian technician. It is also one of them who will score the only goal of the meeting, Anthony Musaba.
4 days later, ASM was once again at his training center to face the Helvetians of Saint-Gall (D1 Switzerland). In a more competitive match than the previous one, the Monegasques failed to win against their Swiss counterparts (1-1). It was however the Brazilian Jean Lucas who opened the scoring for AS Monaco but the striker Boris Babic allows Saint-Gall to come back to score.

After a one-week break, the last 3rd in Ligue 1 faced Austria Vienna, 4th in the last Austrian championship. As against Saint-Gall, the Monegasques could not do better than a draw. With a team reinforced by the return of internationals, the club from the principality quickly responded to the Austrian opener thanks to two goals from Guillermo Maripan and Gelson Martins. But, Gruber allowed the Austrians to come back to the mark.
Finally, for their first trip of the season yesterday, ASM won 2 goals to 0 against Portuguese side Portimonense. In a well-filled Estadio Fernando Cabrita de Lagos, these are Wissam Ben Yedder and Youssouf Fofana who scored the two goals of this match for the reds and whites.
Two gala matches to conclude the preparation of AS Monaco
To confirm its rise to power, AS Monaco will face two choice opponents to conclude its preparation. The first of these two matches will be against Inter Milan on Saturday July 16 at Giuseppe Meazza. The transalpine team had a solid start to the transfer window with the arrivals of Romelu Lukaku and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, among others. Thus, facing this European cador, ASM will be able to test themselves less than 15 days before their first leg of the 3rd round of Champions League qualifying.
Finally, to close their campaign of friendly matches, Philippe Clément’s men will travel to Southampton, a Premier League resident. A match that will certainly look like a general rehearsal before a busy week of resumption of the championship with this first leg of the 3rd round of LDC.
