gas position The Netherlands is in good shape
According to Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate, Micky Adriaansens, the gas position of the Netherlands is “not bad”. On Monday, Russia will temporarily close the most important gas pipeline to Germany, the Nord Stream 1. “The Netherlands is in a different position than Germany,” said Adriaansens Friday evening in Op1.
According to Moscow, maintenance must be submitted to the pipeline, which will therefore close from 11 to 21 July. and Brussels advancing, the gas supply will not start for the time being. Adriaansens that the Netherlands is less dependent on Russian gas than Germany.
The measures taken also pay off, says the minister. “We import liquefied gas, have decided to open the coal-fired power stations further and are filling the storage rooms extra. We are seeing an effect, gas consumption is decreasing.” But “there is indeed solidarity within Europe”, she adds.

‘The Netherlands must become dependent’
It has become clear to the cabinet in recent years that the Netherlands must become less dependent on foreign countries, says Adriaansens. “We want to have more control over what is needed to provide our basic services, such as chips, oil and gas and energy.”
According to Adriaansens, the corona crisis and the war in Ukraine have taught us that the Netherlands must win in independence. The cabinet is prepared to do so, says the minister.
Business climate
political The Hague “also coincidentally on the path, such as making industry more sustainable”, continues Adriaansens. That process must go hand in hand with such a favorable business climate, the minister believes. “We should not make it so difficult for the companies that they eventually start producing in other countries and not cleanly.”

‘Walk ahead’
That is why the cabinet has announced that it will look into reducing regulatory pressure by email. Especially because, according to the government, entrepreneurs notice too little in policy. The approach should ultimately lead to sector programs to reduce regulatory pressure.
Adriaansens wants the Netherlands “with all the creativity that we are starting to run. There are many technological developments that can make it possible. Together with companies and knowledge institutes, we make analyzes about where we should do business,” said the minister.
