Midfield engine Nicolas Seiwald continues to commit to RB Salzburg by signing a new contract. The original working paper of the young Austrian national player would have run until the summer of 2024, the new contract is now valid until 2026.
“I’m very happy that my path is continuing at FC Red Bull Salzburg. I’ve spent almost my entire footballing career here, I’ve been able to learn so much and continue to do so. That’s why one of my personal goals for the coming season is performance to be confirmed from last,” said the 21-year-old from Kuchl.
Already a leader despite his young age
Seiwald has had a flagship career for the Red Bull way so far. The seven-time senior international has played for Salzburg since the U9s, where he then went through the academy and was promoted to the first team via FC Liefering in autumn 2020.
“Nici’s development in recent years is really amazing. Last season in particular, he demanded incredible performances, even performed extremely consistently in the Champions League and in the national team at the highest level,” praised RB sports director Christoph Friend . “Despite his young age, he’s already one of our leading players and a really good guy off the pitch with a top professional attitude.”
Due to the premature extension of the contract, Seiwald is rejecting potential buyers from abroad, at least for this summer. Including the sister club RB Leipzig, which would like to plumb Salzburg’s number 13 in the German Bundesliga.
