In Toulouse, “Eat-fit Canteen” combines sport and healthy nutrition
In general, gluttony and healthy food do not go well together… However, Toulouse residents Jean-Baptiste Meurin, founder of JBM Sportsand her company Pauline, former player of the French Beach Volleyball team, have set themselves the challenge of reconciling good food and pleasure.
From this challenge was born “Eat-fit Canteen”. The concept is simple, the subscribers of their sports halls deployed in the hypercentre of Toulouse, rue de Metz and at Les Minimes, can enjoy a snack or a balanced meal after their sports session. A way “to best support members in addition to sports coaching”, explains Jean-Baptiste Meurin, interviewed by The Independent Opinion.
Combine healthy and gourmet food
According to the founder of JBM Sports, many members of his gyms neglect their diet following a workout. “People think that by spending a lot of money, they can afford to eat anything, when that’s totally wrong”, underlines the Toulousain. From this observation, Jean-Baptiste Meurin created Eat-Fit Canteen in Toulouse to optimize the results of its subscribers by teaching them to eat healthily and in a gourmet way.
People think that eating healthy doesn’t taste good or means deprivation. I am a gourmet, but I know that it is possible to have fun at every meal. And this, even by paying more attention to the choice of its menus”, insists the director of JBM Sports.
To do this, Pauline concocts good desserts reserved for subscribers to their sports halls. À la carte, banana bread, cookies, chocolate cakes… All “gluten-free, with natural foods, easy to digest and processed as little as possible”, explains Jean-Baptiste proudly.
Formulas accessible to all
a few weeks, at lunchtime, athletes registered with JBM Sports can thus order a dish of at Peacock directly at the Bar Eat-Fit Cantine of the Esquirol studio in Toulouse. Three formulas are offered: “the Bowl of the moment alone at €12, with a drink at €15, and for the greediest, the Bowl of the moment formula with drink and Eat-Fit Cantine dessert is at €18 with free coffee.” These are vegetarian and healthy recipes in line with the values of JBM Sports”, explains the founder of Eat-Fit Cantine.
For Jean-Baptiste and Pauline, “the healthy must be accessible to all”. Thus, all Cakes from the Eat-Fit Canteen are offered at €3, including the Banana Bread, prepared by Pauline. Athletes could also enjoy cereal bars (with oatmeal, banana, hazelnuts and chocolate), cookies, “energy bowls” with Skyr (protein white cheese), accompanied by oatmeal, seeds chia or even dark chocolate and seasonal fruits. Moreover, the bowls and desserts change every month to “offer fresh and seasonal products”.
Future collaborations
In the Minimes studio, members could, in a few weeks, find dishes concocted by the caterer “The supreme appetite”, from the Victor Hugo market.
This caterer works exclusively with producers from the Gers. We make sure to use with traders who have the same philosophy as us, that is to say, who eliminate quality local products.”
In rue de Metz, the Peacock restaurant collaborates with JBM Sports. In the future, the couple hopes to expand their menu and why not work with starred chefs from the Toulouse basin in order to offer gourmet products, but above all healthy!
