Hohenbrunn – Advisory Board for the Disabled calls for second platform – district of Munich
The Disability Advisory Board of the District of Munich (BBLKM) has now spoken in the debate about the redesign of the Hohenbrunn S-Bahn station. In an open letter, district administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) and the members of the district council demanded that the chairwoman of the advisory board, Frauke Schwaiblmair, not only make the station barrier-free, but also expand it with two platforms that should be accessible via ramps. As was recently made known in the Hohenbrunn municipal council, however, Deutsche Bahn favored a variant that retained the previous central platform and equipped it with an elevator. “The BBLKM strongly recommends not pursuing this solution because it does not represent a reliable, barrier-free development of the platform,” writes Schwaiblmair, who used to sit on the district council for the Greens. The station is often affected by vandalism, so damaged elevators can also be expected. “In these cases, the train would no longer be barrier-free, and travelers who depend on accessibility would be trapped on the platform after arriving by train,” says Schwaiblmair, who is asking the district council members for a corresponding decision.
