Every match predicted as England chases glory

Sugar Mizzy July 4, 2022

Who will win the European Championship 2022 title at Wembley on July 31? That is the million question right now as the start of the 16-team tournament approaches.

Kick-off will be at Old Trafford on Wednesday, with hosts England facing Austria in front of a sold-out crowd.

The matches will then take place at 10 venues across the UK, including Manchester City Academy Stadium and St Mary’s Stadium. But all roads lead back to Wembley, where the final will be held at the end of the month.

Who will win the European Championship 2022?

It is incredibly difficult to predict the winner of the European Championship 2022 – there are at least six teams that could go all the way.

England will hope to benefit from the home advantage, but will be challenged by Norway, Spain, Germany, France and Sweden. It would also be foolish to write off the reigning champions, the Netherlands.

So yes, it’s hard to say who will be sunbathing in European splendor at the end of the summer. But we have given it a good chance and predicted the result of every match at the EC 2022.

Group stage one:

Group A: England 3 – 0 Austria

Group A: Norway 2 – 0 Northern Ireland

Group B: Spain 2 – 0 Finland

Group B: Germany 3 – 2 Denmark

Group C: Portugal 0 – 2 Switzerland

Group C: Netherlands 1 – 4 Sweden

Group D: Belgium 0 – 1 Iceland

Group D: France 2 – 1 Italy

Sweden's women's football

Group step two:

Group A: Austria 2 – 1 Northern Ireland

Group A: England 1 – 1 Norway

Group B: Denmark 2 – 0 Finland

Group B: Germany 2 – 2 Spain

Group C: Sweden 1 – 0 Switzerland

Group C: Netherlands 1 – 0 Portugal

Group D: Italy 1 – 2 Iceland

Group D: France 2 – 0 Belgium

Germany and Switzerland women's soccer teams

Group step three:

Group A: Northern Ireland 0 – 3 England

Group A: Austria 1 – 2 Norway

Group B: Finland 0 – 3 Germany

Group B: Denmark 3 – 4 Spain

Group C: Switzerland 1 – 0 Netherlands

Group C: Sweden 3 – 0 Portugal

Group D: Iceland 1 – 3 France

Group D: Italy 2 – 1 Belgium

The Netherlands' women's soccer team

Group A:

  1. England – 7 points (6GD)
  2. Norway – 7 points (3GD)
  3. Austria – 3 points (-3GD)
  4. Northern Ireland – 0 points (-6GD)

Group B:

  1. Germany – 7 points (4GD)
  2. Spain – 7 points (3GD)
  3. Denmark – 3 points (0GD)
  4. Finland – 0 points (-7GD)

Group C:

  1. Sweden – 9 points (7GD)
  2. Switzerland – 6 points (2GD)
  3. Netherlands – 3 points (-3GD)
  4. Portugal – 0 points (-6GD)

Group D:

  1. France – 9 points (5GD)
  2. Iceland – 6 points (0GD)
  3. Italy – 3 points (-1GD)
  4. Belgium – 0 points (-4GD)

Group A and B will be very tight at the top, where the two best teams both finish with the same number of points. It will be England and Germany who boast a superior goal difference, which goes through as each group winner.

I predict that Switzerland will cause some outrage in Group C and end the Netherlands’ title defense in the group stage.

Group D will be fairly straightforward. A narrow victory for Iceland over Italy will lead to the country finishing second in the group and advancing to the knockout stage for the second time in their history.

Euro 2022 sign

Quarterfinals:

England 2 – 2 Spain (AET) – England wins 4-2 on penalties

Germany 1 – 2 Norway

Sweden 3 – 1 Iceland

France 1 – 0 Switzerland

England will advance to the European Championship 2022 semi-finals, but it will not be an easy journey. A draw against a Spanish team with talent will result in a penalty shootout, where the Lions will triumph.

Norway, with Ada Hegerberg in the lead, will surprise against Germany, while Sweden continues its excellent form in the group stage with a sure victory against Iceland.

France will look less than convincing against Switzerland in their quarter-finals, but they will get through regardless.

Sweden's women's football team

Semifinals:

England 2 – 3 Sweden

Norway 2 – 1 France

Is it coming home? Unfortunately, in these predictions it is not. It will be heartache for England in the semifinals, despite a brave performance against Sweden.

Norway will continue to impress and defeat France to create a Scandinavian final at Wembley.

Final:

Sweden 2 – 0 Norway

Sweden lost Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020 last year and fell to Canada in the final, but this summer they will not be the losing side.

Stars such as Stina Blackstenius, Fridolina Rolfö and Magda Eriksson will inspire the Swedes to a comfortable victory against Norway.
