Trump “threatened Sweden with TRADE WAR” in an attempt to secure the release of A $ AP Rocky after assault
Donald Trump “threatened Sweden with a TRADE WAR” in an attempt to secure the release of A $ AP Rocky after the rapper’s arrest for assault in Stockholm, claims the Nordic country’s Minister of Justice
- The White House called for the rapper to be released on “national security”: Deputy Prime Minister
- Trump threatened trade wars and economic “restrictions” during diplomatic duels
- Rocky, or Rakim Mayers, was later found guilty of assault after assaulting a man
- He was sentenced to probation – but has promised not to return to Sweden
President Trump warned Sweden that he would start a trade war against the nation if it failed to release the American rapper A $ AP Rocky, the country’s Minister of Justice has revealed.
A $ AP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, was arrested in Stockholm three years ago after he and two bodyguards were filmed beating a fan outside a hamburger bar.
Movies showed three men hitting and kicking Mustafa Jafari before hitting him with a broken bottle.
Mayer’s legal team claimed that Jafari had harassed and racistly abused the rapper.

The arrest and detention of the 33-year-old Grammy nominee in a prison cell in Stockholm for over a month triggered a rare diplomatic fraud between Sweden and the United States.
Rapper Rocky (formed in Los Angeles last month) got his case taken up by Kanye West, Melania Trump and the White House
President Trump tweeted his support for Rocky after becoming aware of the case of Mrs Melania and supportive rapper Kanye West.
Trump wrote: “Very disappointed with Prime Minister Stefan Lovfen because he could not act. Sweden has let down our African American Community in the United States.
“I watched the tapes of ASAP Rocky, and he was persecuted and harassed by troublemakers.
“Treat Americans fairly. #FreeRocky ‘.
Sweden’s Justice Minister Morgan Johansson said yesterday that Trump threatened “trade restrictions” if Sweden did not release Mayers quickly.
Trump also claimed to have contacted the European Commission for support, Johannsson said.
The official, who also serves as Minister of the Interior and Deputy Prime Minister, tells the Swedish newspaper Today’s news: ‘This story shows how important it really is to stand up for our legal principles and not to take our democracy for granted.

“If you can try to do something like this against Sweden, then what will you try to do against slightly weaker countries that do not have the EU behind them?”
Johansson added that Trump was represented by White House lawyer Pat Cipollone.
Cipollone was informed that Sweden’s politicians had no influence whatsoever over legal proceedings under the country’s constitution.
Johansson, pictured when he participated in an award ceremony in Stockholm two weeks ago, revealed the discussions in a new interview
He tried unsuccessfully to dispute Rocky’s release for national security reasons.
Mayers was finally convicted of assault and was sentenced to probation.
The artist may return to Sweden – but reportedly promised not to do so.
He was arrested in April on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a shooting in Hollywood in November last year.
He’s currently out on bail and touring with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Mayers is dating Rihanna, who gave birth to her first child in mid-May.
Rocky was to open the California band’s gig at Old Trafford last week, but showed up so late that he played afterwards instead.
The rapper and Chili Peppers will play a couple of sold-out gigs in Germany later this month.
