Marvin Striesche was coached by trainer Claudia Gabrich at the German Championship. In his very first round, the thirteen-year-old met the Bavarian champion and thus a very experienced fighter. The fight was very even. Both points at the same time and it’s 1:1. Marvin showed willpower and increased to 2:1. Unfortunately he couldn’t keep it up over time and ended up losing 2:3. Nevertheless, his trainer was satisfied with his performance.
Almost at the same time his brother Dustin Striesche, Selina Fabian, Lilly Leißner and Jonas Schneider fought in Austria. With more than 800 individuals and athletes from a total of 18 countries, the competition was not only a rallying point for athletes from Europe, but also for athletes from Australia and India. While Lilly Leißner and Jonas Schneider were eliminated in the first round, things went better for Dustin and Selina. Although Dustin lost to an Italian, he managed to finish fifth in the consolation round.
Selina started in the U18 -53kg class and secured third place in a gripping fight. With one bronze and a fifth place, the four Rochlitzers ended up in the medal table in midfield in 59th place of the more than 90 participating clubs and teams. With these successes, the Rochlitzer were able to show that they are currently increasing their performance. The big goal for the athletes and the coaching team around Ralf Ziezio is the World Cup in Italy in September.
