San Marino Rally 2022, preview and timetables

Sugar Mizzy June 29, 2022

Resumes the journey of Italian Land Rally Championshipwhich reaches the halfway point of the season with the third round of six in total for this 2022. On 8 and 9 July, after the rounds of the Rally Val d’Orcia and Rally Adriatico and before a summer break with the resumption of CIRT in September, it will be up to Rally of San Marinowhich crosses the milestone of fifty editions.

Rally di San Marino, the celebrations for the fifty years of the race

The event organized by San Marino Automobile Motoring Federation will celebrate this anniversary not only with the race itself, which will be completely concentrated on Saturday 9 July, but also with a Celebration of the rally which will take place the day before. This is the title of the initiative that will take shape from 7.30 pm in Piazza Sant’Agata, near the assistance park of the Multieventi Sport Domus in Serravalle di San Marino, where the headquarters of the event will also be located: in the square, we said, the organizers will meet the protagonists of the roll of honor of the San Marino Rally, which includes names of the caliber of Paolo Andreucci, Piero Longhi (both holders of the most career victories, five), Umberto Scandola, Andrea Aghini, Giandomenico Basso, Miki Biasion, Umberto Scandola, Daniele Ceccoli and so on (in the register there is also Andreas Mikkelsen). Present heavy guests and the crews competing in the 2022 edition, for an evening of two hours between anecdotes and memories. Then at 9:30 pm the Starting Ceremony of the 50th San Marino Rally will start, from the historic center of the city, which will be followed by the night reorganization at the Multieventi Sport Domus.

The program, the tests and the validity of the San Marino Rally 2022

Taking a step back, registrations closed on Wednesday 29 June, while on Wednesday 6 July administrative checks will take place, which will continue the following day. Also on Thursday 7, from 09:30, the authorized reconnaissance will start, which will go on practically for the rest of the day. The technical checks are scheduled for Friday 8, while the shakedown of Loc. Piandavello, in Domagnano, will be disputed from 11:00.

Given the special initiatives on Friday evening, let’s move on to the race on Saturday 9: the start at 07:15, with three special stages to be repeated three times. It starts from Land of San Marinovalid as PS1, 4 and 9 of 5 km round, and which, as the name suggests, takes place entirely in San Marino, and then proceeds with the Macerata Feltria 7.47 km long (SS2, 5 and 7), which like the previous one was also used last year and develops in the areas of Macerata Feltria, Lunano, Piandimeleto and Pietrarubbia. Space then to P3, 6 and 8 di Belforte all’Isauro, from 12.01 km, novelty of this edition and that passes along the municipalities of Sant’Angelo in Vado, Mercatello, Carpegna and Belforte all’Isauro. In total, therefore, we will have 9 special stages for a total of 73.44 km timed. Final arrival at 19:00 in viale Onofri in San Marino, followed by the final award ceremony.

The San Marino Rally 2022, as well as the third round of the CIRT, will also be valid as the fourth round of the CIRT Storico (with the seventh San Marino Rally Historic), the third of the CIAR Junior (not first of the year on dirt), the second Rally Cup of Quinta Zona and will also host a new stage of the N5 Italy Trophy and the R Italian Trophy.
