Port of Pisa, the rationalization of water is triggered – Chronicle
Marina di Pisa (Pisa), 27 June 2022 – The drought alarm is very high. Water is a precious resource and as such it must be protected. The Port of Pisa continues its projects for the protection of the environment and the awareness of boaters and citizens. Record heat in recent weeks and the forecasts of impending drought emphasize a fundamental aspect: the availability of water. For this reason the last environmental measure adopted by the Port of Pisa concerns the The rationalization of industrial water, that dedicated to washing boats and port facilities.
“This year the water emergency is worse than that of 2003, a real climate catastrophe, which is also affecting Italy – he comments Michele Magri, Head of Environmental Projects of the Port of Pisa – we understand that our business can be seen as “non-essential”, which is why we have concretely thought of taking an initiative to reduce waste ».
Industrial water supply will not be available in two daily time slots, one at night, from 8pm to 7am, and another in the hottest hours of the day, from 12pm to 4pm, when evaporation is greatest.
«Being in Park of Migliarino San Rossore Massaciuccoli, sat the mouth of a historic river, in a situation of environmental value, it is for us a strong responsibility but also a great responsibility – comments Simone Tempesti, Sole Administrator of the Port of Pisa – for this reason, we have always been committed to limiting the impact of the activities of the tourist port and to raise awareness on environmental issues “.
