Slovenian author Marwan receives the Austrian Literary Prize
Klagenfurt, Austria – Ana Marwan, a Slovenian author living and working in Austria, is the recipient of this year’s Ingeborg Bachmann Award, a prestigious award for work in German given by the city of Klagenfurt. She received an award, which includes a check worth € 25,000, for Wechselkröte, a piece about a woman who lives alone in the countryside and finds out she is pregnant.
Garnbret continues the winning streak
INNSBRUCK, Austria – Olympic gold medalist Janja Garnbret won the leading World Cup race in Innsbruck on Sunday, becoming the first competitor to achieve 33 World Cup climbing victories. Although she didn’t reach the top, her 39+ score was enough to beat American Brooke Raboutou and South Korean Chaehyun Seo, both of whom scored 27+.
The Slovenian minority in Austria hosts Europeado
EBERDORF, Austria – The Slovenian minority in the Austrian province of Carinthia is hosting this year’s Europeada, a football championship for minority groups held under the auspices of the Federal Association of European Nationalities. It took place in the monastery in Dobrla Vas / Eberndorf and takes place between 25 June and 3 July, and is co-organized by the National Council of Korška Slovenes and the Slovenian Sports Association from Klagenfurt.
