Switzerland announce their squad for UEFA Women’s Euro 2022
Switzerland become the 12th team to announce their 23-man squad for UEFA Women’s Euro 2022. The deadline for the competition is June 26th, while La Nati will announce their squad on June 21st, just 5 days before the deadline. However, Nils Nielsen is capable of making changes should he suffer a serious injury or illness, so this squad may still be subject to change.
Switzerland are in a strong group with Sweden, Portugal and the Netherlands, all good sides who will give them a tough time. Switzerland just played a friendly where they lost 7-0 to Germany and they have another friendly against England (who just beat Netherlands 5-1 so they could go into the tournament with two heavy losses , which she will not like much.

WHO TO WATCH OUT FOR?
First off, if you’ve seen Britain’s Youngest Football Boss/Squad Goals or only know her from her influencer-style Instagram page, you might be wondering where is Alisha Lehmann? Well she chose not to go to the Euros in May despite being approached for selection and simply said: “It’s a personal decision. I don’t feel mentally ready for a European tournament.”
Lehmann has made 34 appearances for Switzerland over the course of 5 years and led their attack with crucial goals including a brace against Belgium to help them take a point from their 2-2 World Cup 2019 qualifier and another Goal against Belgium to help them win a game to go to Euro 2022. So it would be a shame to lose them and it would hurt their chances of progressing through the tournament (especially if they win Belgium!).
Lia Walti has been a fixture of Arsenal’s squad for the last 4 years and so it comes as no surprise that she is making up Switzerland’s squad for Euro 2022. Walti is likely to have her 100th international cap during this tournament and she will want that to be a memorable tournament for the Swiss.
Barcelona’s Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic and PSG’s Ramona Bachmann will hope to still create a deadly attacking force in the absence of Lehmann, widely known as Bachmann’s former partner. Crnogorcevic and Bachmann aren’t exactly the textbook players or the faces you know at their current club, but will they be the stars for Switzerland this summer?
