Japan is refusing Slovenia to end the 2nd week of the VNL in a light tone
Japan bounced back after losing three sets to France when they knocked out Slovenia 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19, on Sunday in the 2nd week of the Men’s Volleyball League at the Colosseum Smart Araneta.
It was the Japanese ’sixth win in eight games, ending the campaign in a light-hearted campaign this week with 18 points in third place.
Team captain Yuki Ishikawa led Japan’s attack with 21 points from 17 kills, one block and three aces, and Tatsunori Otsuka also added 13 points, all due to attacks.
The Japanese quickly recovered from the slip in the second set, with horrific killings and combined games they challenged the defense of the Slovenian net.
In the fourth frame, they steered the pace of the game and slowly built an advantage until the quick assassination of star player Yuji Nishida sealed the game in Japan’s favor.
Nishida also finished with 12 points less than 10 attacks and Kentaro Takahashi 11 points.
With three victories, Slovenia fell to its fifth defeat and finished the week in ninth place with nine points.
Rok Možič’s 20-point production – 18 from the offensive line – was still not enough to put out the Japanese fire.
Toncek Stern and Tine Urnaut also finished for Slovenia with 16 and 11 points.
