Safety is a major concern for British tourists looking to holiday this summer. A new study by Forbes Advisor has identified the safest travel destinations.
The safest country for British tourists this summer is Switzerland, known for its stunning natural scenery.
Of all the countries surveyed, Switzerland had the best health care and ranked sixth when it came to the quality of bathing water.
The study also looked at air pollution and Switzerland had the 10th cleanest air of any country surveyed.
Popular destinations are the cosmopolitan cities of Geneva and Zurich as well as the country’s lakes.

Top Holiday Destination Portugal has been ranked as the third safest holiday destination for British tourists.
Almost 95 percent of the bathing waters in Portugal are rated as excellent, while Portugal ranks fourth in terms of air quality.
It also has a high quality of health care and is in the top 10 of all countries surveyed.
Many British tourists choose to travel to the beaches of the Algarve, but Lisbon and Porto are popular city break destinations.
Austria was the fourth safest travel destination for Britons and almost 100 per cent of its bathing waters are rated excellent.
Meanwhile, Britain has been ranked as one of the most dangerous countries in Europe for tourists.
Only 60 per cent of UK bathing waters are rated as excellent while the theft rate is high compared to other European countries.
The country also has fairly high levels of pollution, although this is worst in the UK’s major cities.
