Naples, the councilor of the Rione Sanità remembers the dead Wheel of Covid
Three days of art, culture and music to remember Francesco Role, political activist, journalist and neighborhood of the Rione Sanità, who died for Covid in 2020 at the age of 74. Friday 24 June the Association «Grow up together»Hosted the first of three show evenings (24, 25 and 26 June) aimed at the public of the Rione Sanità in Naples and beyond. The first evening in memory of Francesco Role entitled “Let’s build peace together” was held at the Association’s Headquarters in Piazzetta San Vincenzo alla Sanità. Singer Alfredo Minucci he performed with pieces belonging to the repertoire of Neapolitan classical music. On stage too Bruno Leone with his art of “Guarattello“.
To say the Holy Mass Father Alessio Zanotelli. The president of the non-profit organization “Crescere Insieme”, Rosario Fiorenza, Ruotolo left with affection: «Today we try to keep alive the memory of a person who has given so much for the neighborhood. There was a very friendly relationship, I remember jokingly calling him councilor and councilor ». The association has been involved for years in the recovery and reception of people with drug addiction problems: “We do it without too much bureaucracy and without asking for anything in return,” says Fiorenza. And he adds: «From what it appears, it seems that today the Healthcare is lacking for nothing, but still few have what it puts on Healthcare to put its needs and its needs at the center. In the district there is a lot of attention to the monuments with guided tours, but there is still too little protection for the many marginalized ».
«We – concludes Fiorenza – do a job oriented towards change and truth, and sometimes we make an enormous effort. Sometimes the truth generates hatred and anger for those who are not used to or for those who reject this type of approach ». The historic activist is also among the organizers of the event Mario Vitrone, who recalls the battles that Ruotolo would still have to deal with today: «Francesco was a combative and it was important to remember him today with this day of celebration. But the memory of him will be preserved through the realization of his battles such as the reopening of the San Gennaro park and the improvement of health care ».
There was also a moment of confrontation with political representatives of the Municipality and the Municipality: they attended the event in fact the Councilor Laura Lieto, the municipal councilor Alessandra Clemente and the councilor of Municipality 3 Giuliana Di Lorenzo. This is the memory of Alessandra Clemente: «He was an extraordinary man who entered my life accompanied by something special and rare. Ruotolo is my mother’s surname and I remember when people asked me if I was a granddaughter or a relative. It wasn’t like that – confides Clemente – but we became relatives of citizenship, of politics, and it was a privilege to know him and to be stimulated and pressed by him. Those who have known him remember his sweetness but also his stubbornness: he has known me not to be indifferent. Even when he was distracted and taken by something else, he had to watch over the instances that he always has to move. The bridge dedicated to Maddalena Cerasuolo, the plaque for Hypatia of Alessandria, the non-closure of the San Gennaro Hospital, the opening of the San Gennaro park for which we continue to promote its dedication to her memory as well as for the council chamber of Municipality 3 “.
The memory of the director De Lorenzo: «Francesco Ruotolo was councilor in memory of the Third Municipality. The spirit of his last administrative mandate was to light that fuse of hope and memory in all of us but above all among young people. With the folder under his arm, he goes to school to talk to the managers to ensure that projects are carried out in the area: from the memory of the Four Days to the Days of Remembrance. Being able to transmit to young people today what is the memory of our past is essential for looking to the future. His work is enormous and absolutely not to be forgotten. Today is a way to remember him also in the tender and affectionate human figure of him “. For Health, but for the city of Naples in general, De Lorenzo needs “more resources”. “There is a lot of good will on the part of institutions, citizens, associations but alone, that is not enough”.
