West Ham United now want to sign 6ft5in colossus Gerzino Nyamsi
West Ham United are reportedly keen to sign Strasbourg defender Gerzino Nyamsi in the summer transfer window.
This is according to a report by Objective who claim the Hammers could face competition from Leeds and Newcastle for the signing of the 25-year-old centre-back this summer.
David Moyes has already significantly bolstered his central defending ranks at the London Stadium, with Nayef Aguerd agreeing to join West Ham.
It seems, however, that Moyes intends to further strengthen his central defensive department.
And it’s no wonder why.
Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson are 34 and 32 respectively now and the former spent most of last season with an ACL injury.
On top of that, Issa Diop faces an uncertain future at the London stadium (Claret and Hughes). So it would really make sense for Moyes to sign another centre-back this summer…
West Ham want to sign Gerzino Nyamsi
Objective believe the Hammers are ready to take on Leeds and Newcastle for the signing of the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window.
We think the 25-year-old Strasbourg centre-back would be a good addition to West Ham.
Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Nyamsi has a truly imposing figure.
In 34 Ligue 1 appearances for Strasbourg last season, the Frenchman averaged one tackle, 0.7 interceptions and 2.5 clearances per game. He also averaged 2.6 aerial duels per game (Who scored).
He averaged 42.7 passes per game and had an 83.5% completion rate (Who scored).
Nyamsi is a physically imposing central defender, strong in the challenge and quick on the pitch.
At 25, he is at an advanced age to move from Ligue 1 to the Premier League. It remains to be seen how much money Strasbourg will demand from the French defender.
But if West Ham can nab Gerzino Nyamsi for a reasonable fee, David Moyes bringing him to the London Stadium this summer is surely a no-brainer.
