one user out of two thinks that transport is too expensive
Nearly 52% of users are associated with public transport being too expensive in Toulouse, according to a survey carried out by the urban mobility application Moovit. A quarter of respondents spend more than 50 euros per month to pay for their tickets.
It’s a bad coincidence of the calendar. Tisséo announced its intention to increase the prices of these tickets and season tickets on Wednesday June 22. And this Thursday, June 23, the Moovit application publishes a study on purchasing power and mobility in Toulouse, Paris, Marseille, Lyon and Nice. She turns out that 52% of Toulouse users believe that public transport prices are already too high. In fact, nearly a quarter of the people surveyed in the Pink City dedicate more than 50 euros of their monthly budget payment of transport tickets. Among them, 5% pay more than 100 euros per month.
However, three quarters of users say that the optimal monthly budget allocated to the use of public transport Should be less than 20 euros. And in Toulouse, only 44% of users spend less than 20 euros per month to pay for their transport trips.
83% of users do not receive financial aid
Still according to the panel of Toulouse residents interviewed, 83% say they do not receive financial assistance for the payment of their journeys. Among those who receive one, 54% explain that it comes from the Region, 34% receive it from their company and 15% from another organization or another authority.
Otherwise, 43% of users surveyed say they benefit from a special regime : student, senior, RSA beneficiary, job seeker, disabled or large family.
Increase in the use of transport linked to the increase in fuel
“Issues of mobility and purchasing power are at the heart of French people’s concerns. Whereas gasoline prices at the pumpmotorists are looking for alternatives to using their personal car,” says Michaël Brami, head of Moovit in France.
An assertion proven by the survey of the company, since in Toulouse, half of the people surveyed were certified that the recent increases in fuel prices have encouraged them to abandon their personal car in favor of public transport. And this, despite the costs they generate.
