TFC – Women: “Playing in D2 with Toulouse is a dream” for Sophie Rougé
The young Toulouse striker Sophie Rougé, from Saint-Nicolas de la Grave (82) walks on water. With four goals in two games, she is a very important attacking asset before facing Monaco on Sunday (1 p.m.) in the return play-off to reach D2.
How do you express yourself a few days before the most important match of the season?
In a hurry. It is the feeling that lives in us. I’m looking forward to Sunday, we don’t really stress, it’s more like envy.
What did you think of Monaco, is it the most talented team you have met this season?
I don’t know if we can talk about the level of the team but rather about the context. It was difficult, we were outside in the heat and a play-off match is always stressful because there are more at stake than other matches. Monaco is a very good team that plays well on foot, but we didn’t dwell on that.
Have you changed your way of preparing this week?
No, we kept the same organization as usual. It worked very well like that so there is no reason for that to change.
Personally, you are on fire at the best time of the season with four goals scored in the last two games…
Yes, I am happy. I feel confident but the whole team is good and it shows. That’s why we manage to score these goals.
The D2 is already talking to you about it between you or is it too early?
Frankly, we don’t talk about it too much. That’s the goal but during the season, we really focused on the game that was coming. In the first round of the play-offs, for example, we focused on ASMUR. But this is the last game so we can start thinking about it even if we have to finish the job.
Playing in D2 with the TFC, what did that represent for you?
It would be a dream. It’s my favorite club, I’ve been there for five years and it’s a goal. When the club went down (two years ago), it saddened me and I’m happy to be part of this squad of young players trained at the club. Being able to put the Tef in its place is important.
As with the boys, the team relies on a strong base of players trained at the club…
Yes, many of us have been trained together and the recruits have integrated. They may come from Brittany but they are from Toulouse and even have the accent now (laughs).
