From June 20 to 24, 2022, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg is leading a large-scale Luxembourg trade delegation to Canada. The heir to the throne is leading an economic mission to secure commercial partnerships between the two countries. The trip takes place in Toronto and Montreal.

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume leads economic mission to Canada
Franz Fayot, Luxembourg’s Minister for the Economy, is currently accompanying Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg to Canada. The eldest son of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa led his economic mission to Toronto this Monday, June 20. According to the Grand Ducal Courtthe Luxembourg delegation is made up of around a hundred companies from various sectors of activity, “which demonstrates the interest in the Canadian market”.

The trip will allow several entrepreneurs to forge business ties with Canadian companies, mainly in the technology sector and in the environmental sector. During the first day of the visit on Monday, the Hereditary Grand Duke had a busy schedule.
Guillaume attended the Luxembourg-Ontario Business Forum, an event organized to connect Luxembourg companies with those of Ontario, the most economically important Canadian province. “The seminars highlighted the opportunities specific to each market, conducive to new cooperation and innovation. The organization of working groups has enabled product exchanges around current topics such as cybersecurity, health technologies or Fintech. »

During the day, Guillaume also took part in an event organized at the start-up incubator Digital Media Zone (DMZ). Six young companies from Ontario and Luxembourg pitched their project for international development.
Earlier in the day, at lunchtime, the heir to the throne was invited to lunch with the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Elizabeth Dowdeswell. In the evening, Guillaume took part in a networking reception. The Court also recalls how attached the Grand-Ducal family is to Canada. It was in Quebec that the reigning family found refuge during the Second World War.
