The key matches of the season #9 – Monaco / PSG, 3-0, 29th day of Ligue 1
As part of Paris Saint-Germain’s review of the season, a look back at a series of key matches for the Parisian club. This ninth and final match, between Monaco and PSG counting for the 29th day of Ligue 1, gave a lot of supporters cold sweats. Defeated 3-0, the soulless Parisians had a nightmare evening. As a reminder that the 10th title was not yet in their trophy cabinet.
The captain himself said it, “the alert is there”. Accompanied by the words “catastrophic”, “hard to digest” “worst game of the year”, Marquinhos did not like the performance of PSG and we can understand it. It is difficult to assess the game by looking at the statistics table. It’s true that if you look at them, it’s hard to understand how the score can be so severe. To be sure, you have to see the summary, PSG did not exist, they sank. This will serve as real clicks to get the 10th title of Champion of France.
For Matthieu Bodmer, consultant for Amazon, it’s quite simply ” ashamed “. According to the former PSG midfielder, if he had been on the pitch, he would surely have “fought” with a teammate. In addition, to mark the importance of the defeat, Clément, the Monaco coach, clearly mentioned the heaviness of the score, assuring that more buts could be scored. The impression left by the Parisians is disastrous, they appeared lost, without strength or desire. Even Mauricio Pochettino, always on the defensive, went there with his little tackle on himself and his men, “the team cannot show this state of mind”. Before concluding “there is sporting shame”
No Messi, otherwise it’s the typical team of the season. Which accentuates the exceptional side. Paris hadn’t been playing well for many months, but had always ensured in terms of score, even more so with almost its standard team.
But now, it needed a click after the heavy defeat against Real Madrid and the need to remobilize to seek the 10th title. Afterwards, a match without, can happen, the problem is that it happens after long months of frustration in terms of the game. It is difficult to explain this bad match, but in the end, it will have served well to remobilize a group which, during this 29th day, clearly hit rock bottom.

Conclusion
It’s a game to forget. There is nothing really interesting to remember except that by looking at the statistics, we see that Marco Verratti has done his best. He dominates the creation of the game. We just remember that this match will have served as a trigger, for an end to the season with more desire and concentration. Because after this match, everyone saw PSG live an even more nightmarish end to the season.
Two flops of the match (Tops and flops to find in full here)
A shameful whole. There was a slight revival in the last 10 minutes, but it was slight. Above all, it was very easy to do better than the collective nothingness at the start of the PSG match. Random failed raises, an easily pierced defense… Nothing was going well and it was logical to see Monaco open the scoring when Gianluigi Donnarumma first made a few saves.
At the break, there was at least the hope of seeing PSG wake up being stung in its pride. But no, the Parisians let the match slip away as if they had nothing left to defend. It was a match outraged by PSG, as well as any football team regardless of football.
We will not seek to reveal the individualities of such a failing collective. It would just be a matter of seeing which player was the worst. And there is a lot of competition.
Mauricio Pochettino. The coach cannot be solely responsible for such a failure. But it is also up to him to prepare the team and find keys for a reaction. Except that we had a sad composition from the start with a Georginio Wijnaldum (middle of 31 years old) not at his post, no creativity, not really an ambition in the game. And the changes came late, as usual.
We could say that this match will at least serve to hasten his departure, but unfortunately we can doubt it. Of course, this departure must be accompanied by a real questioning within the club because it is not the only point to modify. But it seems impossible to continue with the Argentine coach.
