TFC: after their draw in Monaco (2-2), the women have the cards in hand for the rise in D2
The TFC players snatched a draw yesterday in Monaco (2-2), and remain in a very good position to move up to the 2nd division.
“It was a game with changing emotions”, a summary of Antoine Gérard, yesterday on the bus which brought the Toulouse players back to the Pink City. The Violettes coach acknowledged that the TFC girls achieved a good result against Monaco during this final first leg play-off for accession to the second women’s division. A 2-2 draw and still so many hopes of being promised next Sunday, on the occasion of the return match which will be played at 3 p.m., on the Brice-Taton field, just next to the Toulouse Stadium.
Yesterday in Monaco, the young people of Toulouse took a little time to get into the game. “We were under pressure from a team that was playing at home and had to score,” explains the coach. We had a little trouble managing but the drink break in the middle of the first half did us good… ”When they returned to the lawn, the Violettes opened the scoring through Sophie Rougé, decidedly very fit for this end of the season.
Outcome on the Brice-Taton field
The Toulousaines returned to the locker room racing in the lead. But the Monegasques would come back into the game and then take the lead shortly after the hour mark (2-1). And the deliverance finally came from Sonia Roumiga at the very end of the game (2-2, 85th).
In the bus that brought them back to Toulouse last night, the TFC players may have dreamed of following the path traced by the boys a little over a month ago. A new rise for the purple club that the Violettes evoke in the best possible way, thanks to the rule of but outside. Clearly, if the return match gives birth to a 0-0 or a 1-1, the Toulousaines go up to D2 Féminine.
But Antoine Gérard’s players will not be satisfied with that and will seek to win, Sunday against a large audience, “in any case we hope so”, smiles the Violettes coach.
