Burgenland
am 06/22/2022 Ah 17:50 watch
Burgenland – Austria’s youngest federal state – is considered a special case in many respects. Located at the foothills of the Alps, this flat country stretches in the east of Austria. Spoiled by the sun and shaped by the wind, this is where the Neusiedler See-Seewinkel National Park lies. An unusual steppe landscape, whose reed belt and salt pans are home to hundreds of birds, insects and mammals. Lake Neusiedl, Austria’s largest lake, attracts over a million tourists every year. Attracted by the Pannonian climate, with high temperatures and little rainfall.
For decades, Burgenland was seen as an economic problem child: running along the border to Hungary, it was cut off from trade and innovation by the iron curtain for decades. But that was yesterday. Because Burgenland has a visionary view of the future. A winegrower lives here who doesn’t store his wine in the cellar, but in Lake Neusiedl, a dropout family who founded a very special sheep farm in southern Burgenland, a wind power entrepreneur who is responsible for one of the largest wind power construction sites in Austria and an ornithologist who is responsible for the eastern Imperial eagle protects. Just like a biologist who ensures that the plant diversity is preserved in the Neusiedler See-Seewinkel National Park.

Carinthia

Carinthia – Welcome to the Austrian state of rivers, lakes and hydroelectric power. People live there who want to make a difference: a professional fisherman on Lake Weißensee, who practices his trade in a particularly sustainable manner. A young inventor at the foot of the Karawanken who developed an app for beekeepers. A visionary gardener who lets organic lemons bloom at Lake Faaker See. A passionate engineer who is building Europe’s highest fish ladder on the Drau. And a father with his son accompanying a small Carinthian glacier through the hardships of climate change.

Styria
am 06/23/2022 Ah 17:50 watch
Styria is the green heart of the nation and at the same time the center of engineering in Austria. The federal state has rested on two pillars for thousands of years: on the two elements wood and steel. “Austria in Transition – Styria” shows landscapes, plants and animals and follows the trail of these two elements with the help of four people who each initiate change in the country in their own way: an architect, a gamekeeper, an engineer and a geologist. They all shape the future of their region through their passion and sometimes unconventional ways.
