Bagneres-de-Luchon. Towards a future collaboration between Monaco and Luchon
SAS Albert II of Monaco left the spa town on Wednesday at 3.30 p.m., visibly very satisfied with his trip to the Pyrenees.
He had come to inaugurate the exhibition dedicated to his great-grandfather, Albert 1er, and said he was delighted with the welcome he received in the Luchonnais. During the few hours spent in the spa town, HSH Albert II of Monaco showed unfailing friendliness and closeness. Back on these moments of main visits with Eric Azémar, Mayor of Luchon.
The results of this princely trip?
Everything went really well, the prince enjoyed meeting the public very much. He stopped at the stand of local producers and tasted our products. We had very frank, very open contacts and the whole of the delegation left really very satisfied with Luchon. We have had time to look ahead and consider the paths we have managed to follow in the future.
Can you speak already?
Yes, of course, I have already mentioned the Société des Bains de mer, in Monaco, which manages hotels and Casinos. We also have two film festivals in common and there is a Foundation that works to preserve nature. She wants to work in the Pyrenees and Luchon could help her, by adding other partners, such as the Occitanie Region or the PNR…
So the outcome of this visit is positive?
Yes really. We were able to present our problems and today, contacts have been made. This is good news for our city. For his part, the Prince was very pleasantly surprised by the good-natured atmosphere that reigned throughout his stroll through our streets.
How did the prince find the city?
He was very surprised to find a city of this architectural quality, with sublime landscapes that he was able to discover above the Hospice de France. He walked on “the way of the goats”, towards Campsaure and the Pesson hut. I think he really had a great time in our mountains.
He said he was coming back with his family?
Certainly in a private way, next year and the year 2024 we will also have surprises in store, no doubt with the bike. But it’s still a bit early to talk about it…
