More than 40 degrees in Toulouse on Friday and Saturday?
Météo France is extending the heatwave red vigilance weather alert to 12 departments in the west of France, including Haute Garonne, Gers and Tarn. During this exceptional sequence of heat waves, temperature records will be broken for the month of June and in absolute value in France, forecasters announce. As is now often the case during heat waves in France, absolute records will therefore probably be broken, mainly in the South-West of the country and the Centre-Val de Loire.
A very hot night from Friday to Saturday
This afternoon, on the departments in orange vigilance, by appointment:
* 37°C to 40°C (locally higher) in Occitania, New Aquitaine (except Poitou), and the Rhône Valley (Drôme, Ardèche)
* 35°C to 39°C in Poitou (Deux-Sèvres and Vienne) and Vendée
* 35°C to 37°C in the lower Loire Valley (departments 37, 44, and 49)
Next night, which will be the hottest of the episode, the minimums in the orange and red vigilance departments will include between 21°C and 25°C, very high values for the season.
Stormy degradation on Sunday
Saturday afternoon the heat will increase, on the axis Landes, Poitou-Charentes, Vendée the maximum temperatures will be still rising; absolute records could then fall.
A stormy deterioration is expected on Sunday, and should allow a drop in temperatures.
