In Toulouse, the Nakache swimming pool expects a peak in attendance this weekend with the heat wave
It’s a bit like “the place to be”, the place to be right now in Toulouse with these high temperatures: Nakache swimming pool on the Ile du Ramier, the largest of Toulouse’s ten swimming pools. The huge outdoor pool of 150 meters by 50 reopened ten days ago.
4,500 swimmers expected on Saturday
The Nakache swimming pool welcomes some 3,500 bathers daily. But with this heatwave episode, attendance should increase. A fortiori with the bathing ban that strikes Sesquieres lakethis weekend, because of the presence of cyanobacteria.
But even without that, Stéphane Rentet, the director of physical and sports activities for the city of Toulouse, expected a peak in attendance : “Sur will certainly be around 4,500 visitors. We sent that with the heat wave, attendance increased significantly. And then it starts to be the end of lessons, the children have more free time: the teams are therefore ready to welcome all the bathers and ensure their safety. This is a very important point: in a pool of this type, _you have to be extremely careful_. We have areas that are well emitted at water depths. We also have a large enough team to respond to a large influx. The difficulty is that we cannot know in advance the number of users who will come to the pools. Corn we put the means to ensure safety bathers.”
The pools of the Nakache swimming pool are supervised, on average, by a dozen lifeguards depending on the number of visitors. They can accommodate up to 9000 people. In all, about thirty agents work on the site, including technical services, administrative and security personnel.
