In Toulouse, Empalot celebrates its inhabitants with the celebration of success
“We sometimes hear about Empalot in a negative way, but we, the inhabitants of the district know that there is more to the positive”, exclaimed Stéphane, coordinator of the Hasure collective. A declaration acclaimed by the spectators gathered in the cultural center La Brique Rouge.
The 14th edition of the trophies of success honored the inhabitants of Empalot. This Thursday, June 16, fifteen winners were rewarded for their actions. The sponsor, Armand N’Donda, was the first to receive an award. “He is considered by many to be the official mayor of the district,” Stéphane introduced him. Moved, this local actor, made a point of specifying that he knew that Empalot was a “tremendous and exemplary district”.
For this reason, it was he who presented the following trophy to a young association, Bouge Tes Pieds. “There was nothing to do in Empalot so we offered activities for young people,” explained Oumaima, a member of the association. Delighted with this consecration, the young women hope that the celebration of success will make them known in the neighborhood. The district mayor, Jonnhy Dunal, was able to highlight the centenary of Empalot: Jeanne. To the applause of the audience, the grandfather sang La Java Bleue. Another elected official was present. Anaïs Saint-Aubain, departmental councilor, presented her prize to Joëlle Cabezas, member of the MJC and a large number of other associations. The one everyone describes as the hero of Empalot, Lahcen Cherdoud, was also thanked for his bravery. The young man had evacuated several residents from a burning building. Sport was also in the spotlight. Several students from Toulouse Taekwondo, volunteers from the football club and the Karate section of the MJC are among the winners. Just like a former resident who made a short film and an association of mothers.
