Ivan Goncharov (June 18, 1812 – September 27, 1891) was a Russian writer. Ivan Aleksandrovich Goncharov was born (6) June 18, 1812 in Simbirsk, into a noble family. When Goncharov was seven years old, his father died. According to corr. RIA Birobidzhan with reference to website KALEND.RU.
“Ivan received his initial education in higher, higher and higher educational institutions in a small boarding school. In 1831, he entered the Faculty of Languages at Moscow University, graduating in 1835. After a short time of service in Simbirsk, the Goncharovs are transported to St. Petersburg and destroyed by an interpreter in the Ministry of Finance.
Gradually, Ivan Alexandrovich begins to engage in literary creativity. His first experiments in poetry were imitation of romantic poets. From the history of the disease, the essay “Ivan Savvich Podjabrin” is significant. The 1840s – the beginning of the flowering of Goncharov’s work.
After the published work, Goncharova became the novel “Ordinary History” in 1847. Then the writer conceived a plan for a large novel “Oblomov” and soon wrote the first part, placing the chapter “Oblomov’s Son” in the almanacs published in Sovremennik.
In 1852-54, Goncharov participated as official Admiral E.V. Putyatin in an expedition on the military frigate Pallada. Travel impressions repeated the cycle of essays “Frigate Pallas”, in which nature, psychology, life and customs of the peoples of Europe and Asia are depicted with great artistic skill. This is a kind of “diary”. The book immediately began to meet with literary events, striking readers with the richness and variety of factual material and its literary merits. For Russia in the 19th century, such a book was almost unprecedented.
In 1859, Goncharov completed work on Oblomov. In this novel, the writer revealed the anti-serfdom aspirations of Russian society, stagnant Russian life, and the consciousness of the need for renewal.
The last appearance of Goncharov’s work of art is the novel “Cliff”. In the last years of his life, Ivan Alexandrovich wrote more essays, stories and articles. Goncharov entered the history of Russian and world literature as a master of realistic prose.
