Axel Zingle will be the leader of a solid formation Cofidis on the Tour of Belgium (June 15-19) which begins this Wednesday. The young 23-year-old Alsatian named himself Tuesday during the presentation of the teams and at the microphone of Sports 59/62before taking the start of the Belgian event for the first time in his career. “The goal? We come mainly to try to make a good general classification. I haven’t done a lot of lap times this year, but we’re going to try to do the maximum. And then why not go get a stage, on several maps in the team for that“. Among the stage hunters, we will find in particular Piet Allegaert and the sprinter Max Walscheidwhile Wesley Kreder, Alexis Renard, Kenneth Vanbilsen and Jelle Wallais completes the selection.

“The first step will put us in the deep end from the start”
The Mulhouse puncher also returned to the new course for these five days of racing. “The first stage today (Wednesday) will put us in the deep end from the outset, it looks like a classic Flanders. I don’t think there will be a large group at the finish. Then there will be two stages more dedicated to the sprint, where you will have to be wary of the wind. And then the stopwatch, and the Durbuy stage (Saturday) which will be very difficult“. Axel Zingle then projected himself on the rest of his season. “Morale is good, but we still want to continue on this great achievement. There are some great races coming up, with a busy end to the season. Especially the French Championships. It will be a bit special, we are expecting a sprint, but we will see. On a Bryan (Coquard) who is in good shape“.
