In Haute-Garonne, in Toulouse, the Bibente is one of the oldest cafés in Toulouse. Jean Jaurès had his habits there.
In Toulouse (Upper Garonne)the Capitol reigns supreme over the square. A few steps away, another temple: the Bibente. Café almost bicentenary, it is known to all. Every morning, Valentin Noël, a waiter and lemonade maker, wakes up his gilders. “On a certain standard to be respected. We are at Place du Capitole at Bibente, we are not at Lulu’s crêperie”he believes. “I come because the coffee is excellent. There is a little chocolate with it, which is not everywhere, and on waiters who are adorable”testifies to a regular. “Coffee is good to drink and coffee is also pretty to look at so it’s a show place”says another.
“The impression when you enter here is that you are enhanced by the decor. You are not crushed even though the decor is still overabundant. We are honored to be in this place”hate aline Tomasinretired from the Ministry of Culture which classified the establishment fifty years ago. In the absence of archives, the opening date of the Bibente is valued to 1843. Its decoration is inspired by the Parisian brasseries of the time.
