James Blunt and Kimberose for the return of the Archéo Jazz festival near Rouen
After a two-year hiatus, the Archéo Jazz contemporary music festival in Blainville-Crevon (Seine-Maritime) returns from June 28 to July 2, 2022.
After the cancellations of 2020 and 2021, this 43rd edition of the Archéo Jazz festival was eagerly awaited. This meeting at the end of June, which marks the beginning of summer and the holidays, is a singular festival, on a human scale, and which each year receives big international stars in a small village village of 1200 inhabitants located about twenty kilometers east of Rouen.
Organized solely by volunteers, Archéo Jazz is a festival whose programming ranges from jazz to reggae, including blues, pop and disco.
It owes its name to the excavations started at the end of the 1960s to bring a great medieval castle out of oblivion whose remains were buried under huge amounts of earth. To finance the work and enhance the site, a music festival was created in 1977.
Since then, the towers of the castle have been clearly visible and Archéo Jazz is still helping to save and protect these exceptional medieval ruins. The proceeds from the festival also make it possible to organize cultural and sporting activities throughout the year.
For the great return of Archéo Jazz, five evenings are scheduled, from Tuesday June 28 to Saturday July 2. Founding president of the festival, Jérôme Benet, who, in competition with the major summer festivals, has to fight every year to bring in headliners, is proud to have James Blunt in his 2022 program.
But, on the public side, he notes that habits have changed since the Covid health crisis:
“So, what we feel, and like many colleagues who have finally succeeded in their event, is that now people buy their concert tickets much later. Later possible. Probably because they were a bit burned with the successive cancellations (which are always a bit laborious) and so there is this trend.
But Jérôme remains optimistic and confident for the next few days: “So us, the first weeks, in March, it started a little late compared to previous years, but for 4 weeks, the curves have risen well and with this announced trend of sales which are accelerating the last two weeks, we think we will achieve our objectives: that is to say, to have around 7000 people over the 5 evenings.
The Archéo Jazz 2022 festival will begin on Tuesday June 28 with the concert of Ayo, at 10 p.m. under the big top. (opening act: Aymeric Maini)
10 p.m.: James Blunt (1st part: Cobi)
10 p.m.: Avishai Cohen Trio (1st part: Biréli Lagrène)
10 p.m.: Kimberose (1st part: Gabriel Gosse)
10 p.m.: Robert Ford (Part 1: Principles of Joy)
