Health Senator Gote announces: Berlin Senate wants to extend corona measures until the end of July
The Berlin Senate will extend the basic protective measures against Corona until the end of July. Health Senator Ulrike Göte (Greens) said on Wednesday the rbb24 evening show. So far, the corresponding regulation only applies until June 30th. This means that FFP2 masks must continue to be worn in certain places in Berlin – for example in doctor’s offices, hospitals, care facilities or on local public transport.
According to Gote, how the corona protection measures will continue in Berlin after July depends on how the federal government designs the Infection Protection Act. In Berlin, the number of corona infections has recently risen significantly again.
The Federal Infection Protection Act expires on September 23. Brandenburg’s Minister of Health Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens) told rbb24 Brandenburg aktuell that the Bundestag should actually already take the relevant decisions, for example on the obligation to wear masks, so that there could be a seamless transition in September.
Andreas Schwark from the Brandenburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians called for a new vaccination campaign. It should be clearly specified when to be vaccinated, for whom it makes sense and with which vaccine. This takes four to six weeks to prepare.
