Florence, evicted mother of five children: tension in public housing – Chronicle
Florence, June 15, 2022 – Tension atIsletannex popular case from via Canova. The story is that of Nezathe 48-year-old woman of Moroccan origin, mother of five children and grandmother of a 2-year-old girl, evicted due to a debt which has been dragging on from 2018, about 12 thousand euros, to which would be added repeatedly to the condominium regulation. The solution that had been proposed by the Municipality had been rejected because it should have involved the division of the family unit. In protest, the woman had placed herself with a tent at the entrance to the palace, while her children had been accommodated by friends; a garrison that had also received the solidarity of many people, including the militants of the housing movements.
Tonight the family returned to their accommodation: the intervention of the police, police and carabinieri, but also of the 118 and the firefighters, was immediate and there were moments of high voltage with screams and threats and even physical contact also due to the presence of some determined demonstrators, friends of the family and inhabitants of the area. For fear that someone could throw themselves out of the window, it was also necessary to prepare the rescue tarpaulin, shaving a hedge to make room. Now it will be up to the social workers and the Municipality to try to resolve this thorny affair.
