Ian Hanavan (RPC Anderlecht): “Waiting for the first matches” (Anderlecht)
Basketball Top Division Two
Ian Hanavan will start a new challenge in August in the Simonetzaal of third division RPC, hands and hands Another professional from Leuven Bears and Okapi Aalst takes over the trainer strings.
Ian Hanavan hammered at Phoenix Brussels, mainly on team building, but was let down by a group that fell apart like loose sand. Still, the American wants to continue in the same way at Anderlecht.
“Forging a close-knit team is the first thing I have in mind. Some experienced players return to the old stable and some youngsters move on. The seniors have to provide support, the youngsters have to pick up the level.”
“I was already talking to the players and very hungry to prepare for the new competition. I too long for a new adventure. Basketball is my life and I take the Phoenix Brussels experience with me. A coaching career is an evolving process.”
“With RPC Anderlecht we have to represent Brussels basketball in a positive way in the third division. Players and coaches must be on the same page. I look forward to the series format to be announced soon. Of course we hope for a series with derbies against Woluwe United, Royal Brussels IV B and PhD student Bavi Vilvoorde B.”
Hanavan does not venture into forecasts. “Let’s wait for the first games. There is a lot of talent in Brussels, but you have to discover and exploit it. I’m glad I got the chance.” (rwd)
