Toulouse. The Bears go beyond the objectives set
Promoted to the highest level, the Toulousains achieved a season that went beyond expectations with in particular a qualification in the final stages.
In the space of a few months, the Bears have just gone from promoted to qualified for the play-offs. Humble and hard-working, the people of Toulouse have done well this season of the rise in the elite of American football in France.
“We are happy because it proves that the club has worked well and this at all levels, players, staff, managers”, congratulates Arnaud Montgénie, the president. “Reaching this first round of the play-offs is an excellent thing, after it is our first year, so the motivation was always there. Now we will have to succeed in keeping this state of mind”, encourage the leader, eager to install the club among the references of the discipline. “At the start, we aimed to maintain it, but over the course of the meetings, we raised expectations. But, I repeat, the objective is to confirm in order to settle permanently at this level within 3-4 years”, wishes – he while the Bears will play on June 18 against La Courneuve or Thonon-les-bains.
Speech to the defense
For this historic poster, Toulouse will be able to rely in particular on its iron defense, one of the best in Conference B. A sector driven in particular by the performances of Mathieu Pavot and Kevin Prevost, both respectively ranked in the Top 5 of the interceptions and sacks records. “The defense is doing well this year, it’s true, it’s both the result of good recruitment work but also of training”, proudly notes Arnaud Montgénie.
The defense precisely, a crucial point as the final stages approach and which could well change the fate of the meetings in the image of what is happening in the NFL. Across the Atlantic, it is also customary to say that it is always the best defenses that end up winning in the end. It is to be hoped that this adage is verified with the Toulousains.
