Nick Cave returns to Portugal in September to perform at Meo Kalorama
After performing on the first night of the NOS Primavera Sound festival, at Parque da Cidade do Porto, BLITZ knows that Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ second date in Portugal will be this year. The authors of “Push the Sky Away” will take part in the September 3 confirmation of MEO Kalorama, the new festival that will take place at Parque da Bela Vista, in Lisbon, on September 1, 2 and 3. On the poster, Nick Cave will partner with Arctic Monkeys, Kraftwerk and Chemical Brothers among many other artists already announced that will perform in the same venue where Rock in Rio Lisboa usually takes place.
Remember that, even before the pandemic, Nick NOS participated in Portugal, on a rainy night in 2018, at Primavera Sound. After that he had concerts scheduled for the Altice Arena in Lisbon, which were cancelled. The return has already taken place this year, precisely in Porto, at the same ‘scene of the crime’. Nick Cave then edited the albums “Ghosteen and “Carnage”, in partnership with its director, Warren Ellis. Recently, the movie “This Much I Know To Be True”, directed by Andrew Dominik, also premiered. a series of public performances in which he performs rigorously solo or with minimal accompaniment. The return with Bad Seeds, after weeks of rehearsals that took place in London, took place on June 2 in Aarhus, Denmark, followed by shows in Barcelona, at Primavera Sound, on June 4; in Lyon, on June 6 and 7, and finally in Porto, on June 9. The concert at Meo Kalorama will be the last of this tour.
Returning to Portugal for a second concert in the same year is infrequent, but justified by the various postponements and cancellations of shows due to the pandemic. Nick Cave’s return for a second date at another festival, as will happen this year, is paralleled by the case of Jesus and Mary Chain who, after performing at the North Festival, in Porto, will return to the Crato Festival. Anita will also be present at Rock in Rio and, later, at MEO Marés Vivas, in Gaia. Many of the names that are part of the Super Bock Super Rock lineup will also take the stage in Portugal, days before, at Rolling Loud, in Praia da Rocha, in Portimão.
