Legislative elections. In Toulouse, 50 assessors are missing for the second round
The town hall of Toulouse is calling for volunteers to hold around fifty offices during the second round of the legislative elections on June 19.
At each election, the same difficulty for the town hall: finding enough people to hold the 265 Toulouse polling stations which must be composed of a president, at least two assessors (they are responsible in particular for having voters sign) and a secretary (who takes the minutes).
The problem arises for the assessors, volunteers, who must agree to keep an open office, as for all large cities, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. And it has increased since the traditional parties, on the right and on the left, are losing ground. Because it was they who, with their militants, provided the large battalions of these essential volunteers.
Call for volunteers
In recent years, the town hall of Toulouse has taken the lead in establishing a list of people ready to participate in the holding of a polling station. A list fed thanks to a regular call, before the exams, to goodwill. Despite this, difficulties are looming for these legislative elections, particularly in view of the second round. The town hall is looking for around fifty assessors for June 19 and is calling on all volunteers. To register, go straight to the montoulouse.fr website. Even for the first round, Sacha Briand, deputy mayor in charge of the elections, fears last minute withdrawals. According to the elected official, the disaffection of the second round is a classic: the assessors, seeing their favorite candidate eliminated, no longer wish to invest a whole day for others. In total, a day of voting in the Pink City mobilizes 520 assessors.
