An unusual “three-in-one” boutique, Chez Terena promotes African cuisine and culture in its own way: ethnic grocery store + caterer(s) + private event organizer. The black continent finds an ambassador sign on the left bank at the edge of the Place des Immurées.
The city center of Rouen on the left bank is not lacking in hairdressers and the salon at 70 rue Saint-Sever will not have resisted the health crisis. Adyna Beauté has therefore eclipsed in favor of a new activity that does not run the streets: platform caterers/grocers stamped Africa/creation of private events. All this under the banner “Chez Terena”.
A neighbor of the brasserie-tea room Les Chrysanthemes, at the corner of Place des Emmurées and Rue Saint-Sever, Adyna Beauté specialized in hair extensions. The trade that succeeds it in the sense of extension, with its three-level concept.
The boss Rama Konaté is not developing a caterer like the others, she is driving a “physical market place” to showcase the cuisines of the world by promoting local talent. A take-out and delivery platform that allows emerging professionals (often from Rouen) to get started.
This is the case of Yvette Katete, originally from Congo, official supplier of daily specials. Red rice, vegetable sauce, chicken wings: the basis of its proposals, available every day from Tuesday to Friday. Beyond that, on request, she can revisit all meat and fish recipes. Skewers of beef, quail or scallops, arranged Congolese style. Just order the day before for the next day.
Another partner of the Terena house, Agnès Aman, native of Côte d’Ivoire, is an expert in desserts. We particularly appreciate its carrot cake or its range of macaroons (8 flavours, including a very tasty ginger/hibiscus flower). “Mom Agnès’ pastries” are waiting for you.
A showcase for young gastronomic brands and up-and-coming artisans, Chez Terena offers a main course menu with sauce/drink at €8.50. A range of delicacies, too (empanadas, pastels like in Senegal, pilies like in Cameroon).
At Terena, on the grocery side, it is access to products from elsewhere: shea butter from Burkina Faso, honey made in Casamance, cashew nuts with ginger imported from Côte d’Ivoire, Othentiks artisanal fruit juices created in Benin…
Last skill of Chez Terena, the organization of events, from cocktails to literary encounters. “I’ve always had a taste for entrepreneurship,” says Rama Konaté, from Grand’Mare.
She has proven her know-how by putting it at the service of the Festival of Afrodescendence, which celebrates African culture. The first edition took place at the Cité du Cinéma in Saint-Denis, the second at the Cité Fertile in Pantin, the next in October at the Fort d’Aubervilliers.
