why will the Tisséo network be disrupted this summer?
Disruptions are to be expected this summer on the Tisséo lines. As part of the creation of a partial terminus at Odyssud, the circulation of tram lines T1 and T2 will indeed be disrupted this summer. The work will consist of “renovating the tracks, creating a third track dedicated to the partial terminus and creating a local technique necessary for operation”, explains Tisséo in a press release.
Better serve Toulouse airport
Work started in February 2022, but the heaviest operations will take place this summer. The interventions requiring this closure were organized during school holidays in order to minimize the impact for users of the tram line. In addition, no event at the MEETT is planned during this period.
The creation of a partial terminus at Odyssud will make it possible to increase the frequency of passage of the tram to Blagnac and the airport area, ie 4.5 minutes at rush hour instead of the current 9 minutes. The increase in frequency responds to a growing demand for travel, it will thus ultimately improve travel conditions for our travellers,” said Jean-Michel Lattes, President of Tisséo Collectivités and Tisséo Ingénierie.
The objective of this work is to better serve the airport area and Blagnac. The operations are part of the planned developments between the future Blagnac – Jean-Maga metro station and Toulouse Blagnac airport with a view to creating the Airport Express Line (LAE). This “high frequency” line will make it possible to reach the airport in 7 minutes (between Jean-Maga and Blagnac) and will run on the rails of the existing T2 tram. It will offer a connection with the 3rd metro line and with the T1 tram at the new “Blagnac – Jean-Maga” station.
Namely that the Jean Maga sector will be an important center of exchange in the Pink City. This sector will benefit from the construction of a metro station as part of the 3rd line project, the creation of two tram stations and a terminus for two or three bus lines serving western Toulouse.
These operations will also be accompanied by the modification of the Toulouse Blagnac Airport terminus, and work on the T1 tram line with:
- the creation of a partial terminus at Odyssud to increase the frequency of the tram south of Blagnac,
- the extension of the Garossos storage site (increase in the capacity to accommodate trains increased to 38 32m trains compared to 26 today).
