Legislative. What is the positioning of the candidates on air pollution in Toulouse?
The Collective against air pollution of the Toulouse conurbation (Ccnaat) questioned the candidates for the legislative elections in Toulouse on the measures to combat airborne noise. Only a few answered him.
Air pollution is a problem for many. Those issued by Toulouse-Blagnac airport have an impact on the daily lives of many local residents. With the approach of the legislative elections, in Toulouse as elsewhere, the Collective against air pollution in the Toulouse conurbation (Ccnaat) then asked the candidates in Haute-Garonne their opinions on the measures to combat these nuisances.
The outgoing deputies had shown little interest in the problem according to the Ccnaat. It does not seem to mobilize the candidates massively either. The collective has only received three responses to date, including one common to two candidates..
Only four candidates answered the collective’s questions
Jacques Rocca, candidate for the Centrist Alliance in the 1st constituency, Cécile Dufraisse, candidate for the Union de la Droite et du Center in the 9th constituency, François Piquemal and Hadrien Clouet, respectively Nupes candidates in the 4th and 1st constituencies , are the only ones to have answered.
And they don’t agree. Their first differences concern the abolition of night flights for Toulouse-Blagnac. François Piquemal and Hadrien Clouet are “without hesitation” in favor of a curfew between 11:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.. Jacques Rocca and Cécile Dufraisse were more mixed.
What do legislative candidates think of an airport curfew?
“I am in favor of the airport not opening new take-off or landing slots in this time slot and that current potential flights are shifted to this slot. It is not a curfew in the sense that the airport must be able, in the event of a health emergency for example, to let an aircraft take off or land, ”said the candidate of the centrist Alliance.
For Cécile Dufraisse, “limiting night flights is possible” subject to an agreement between “the various parties concerned” and the maintenance of “medical or military emergency flights” and “some cargo flights”.
Some welcome progress in reducing air pollution
Regarding the capping of rotations and sound volumes, the Nupes candidates are in favor of it. The others do not speak frankly. Corn Cécile Dufraisse and Jacques Rocca welcome progress in terms of reducing nuisances.
“Technologies have made it possible to reduce aircraft noise by more than 35% over the past 30 years”, indicates the candidate of the Centrist Alliance. The Ccnaat also asked the candidates if they were ready to organize a working meeting between Airbus and the associations to “restore confidence between the manufacturer and the populations”.
They say they are ready to organize a meeting between Airbus and the associations
All answered in the affirmative. “If this should allow us to better understand the constraints and expectations of each other, with mutual respect and listening, I am in favor of it”, declares Cécile Dufraisse. François Piquemal and Hadrien Clouet are “convinced of the need for such a meeting”.
Former director of communications for Airbus, Jacques Rocca is also “ready to solicit” the manufacturer. But he is keen to point out: “Airport traffic depends on the management of the airport and that of Airbus represents only 10% of this volume, so it is not necessarily at Airbus that you will be able to define how to act. on Blagnac airport traffic”.
