Toulouse: Flavie Flament: “Space is the great adventure of our time”
Journalist and host Flavie Flament records her program “Jour J” on RTL at the Cité de l’Espace in Toulouse. With guest, astronaut Jean-Louis Chrétien.
Until Thursday evening, you relocate the D-Day set to the Cité de l’Espace. Why ?
“Jour D” broadcast from Monday to Thursday for a year on RTL, recounts the major events that have marked the collective memory of our time. By relocating certain themes, in this flood of information, we give ourselves moments of “breathing” if I may say so. The Cité de l’Espace, whose vocation is to host space actors and events, lent itself very well.
are you waiting to give us some examples of D-Day?
The September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, the war in Iraq. More recently the assault on the Capitol in Washington but also the emblematic guitar of Telephone…
The universe of space fascinates you. Why ?
After the Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg (Normandy), Espace was logical. This universe fascinates me. Especially since 2011 when I had the chance in the context of the documentary “Jimmy’s eye” to go to NASA, the American space agency, a pioneer in space exploration. An unforgettable moment where I learned a lot about the daily life and the training of astronauts.
What is the program for these two days?
Yesterday morning to start, I talked about the ISS, International Space Station, placed in Earth orbit, permanently occupied by an international crew around scientific research in space. I also welcome the first French astronaut, Jean-Louis Chrétien who, in 1982, flew aboard a Soviet Soyuz rocket to spend a week in the Salyut orbital station. I also wander around the Cité, which is not privatized and where the public is invited.
During this recording you also talk about Apollo XIII.
Remind the younger generations of the unfortunate adventure of the American Apollo XIII mission in 1970 and the beginnings of space seem essential to me.
On August 3, 2018, the National Assembly voted to extend the limitation period from 20 to 30 years for violence against minors. A fight that you fought with strength.
A victory won, fought hard and now at the service of many.
This Thursday at 10:30 a.m., recording from the “Moon” exhibition at the Cité de l’Espace, avenue Jean Gonord in Toulouse. Guest: Olivier Sanguy, head of the Cité de l’Espace.
