Zbigniew Boniek: “Belgium is an example for Poland”
Former star of the Polish selection at the crossroads of the ’70s and ’80s, Zbigniew Boniek was also the president of his federation from 2012 to 2021. 40 years ago, “Zibi” had blocked the world road of the other great generation of Belgian football.

Pologne – Belgium, Boniek – Custers, the association is Pavlovian. A volley, a placed header and a dribble on the goalkeeper: on June 28, 1982, the Polish striker, now 66, had scored a triple, and virtually dismissed the Red Devils, deprived of Pfaff, from the semi-finals of the Mundial.
If he had not exhausted his two allowed terms, between 2012 and 2021, the ex-accomplice of Michel Platini at Juventus (1982-1985), that of the nine world champions, would still be in the front row this Wednesday evening as president of the Polish federation for a remake of the poster. Or he would have declined the trip to this cursed Heysel one evening in 1985 when he had won the C1 … Generous on the ground with his irresistible rides, he had also been after this tragedy: leaving for Roma ( 1985-1988), he was the only player of this Juventus to offer his victory bonus to bereaved families.
