The Grimaldi Forum in Monaco is expanding into a new eco-district
Nearly 6000 square meters of additional space. The Grimaldi Forum of Monaco will see its exhibition capacity increases by 50% within two and a half yearsi.e. 25 years after its opening in 2000. From 2025, the convention center of the Principality of Monaco, which hosts around a hundred events and 250,000 visitors per year, will havean area of 41,000 m2 indoors, compared to 35,000 m2 currently, 2,000 m2 of landscaped outdoor spaces are added to this. Thus, if the Grimaldi Forum currently has three auditoriums and seven spaces, this extension will bring ten exhibition-restoration spaces in 2025while the number of breakout rooms will increase to 40, from 22 today.
Based on versatile and modular spaces, this extension will increase the field of possibilities for professional meetings in Monaco. Connected to the current building thanks to a direct link with the Diaghilev exhibition hall, this expected development is divided into three areas, starting with the Diaghilev Gallery, of 1,031 m2, which will be able to accommodate nearly 370 m2 of stand.
With an independent exterior entrance located on the sea side, the extension is completed, still on the sea side and running alongside the current building via the Carré and the Salles du Patio. These daylight spaces, nearly 1,500 m2, can accommodate either stands or be divided into eight meeting rooms for 376 people in theater format. The capacity to accommodate meetings and conferences will also be increased with the Pinède room, which can accommodate up to 10 modular meeting rooms each accommodating 80 people in theater configuration. With a surface area of 3,180 m2, this room is also suitable for setting up stands, but above all for large-scale gala dinners. In catering configuration, the place can accommodate up to 1,650 people seated.
In terms of events, the Grimaldi Forum takes advantage of its location on the shores of the Big Blue to offer outdoor spaces with a view, in particular the future Ravel terrace, 585 m2. The new 100 m2 Indigo terrace, a 335 m2 patio and a 375 m2 covered patio will also be developed, as well as the Emeraude forecourt, over 600 m2, where the independent entrance to the extension will be located.
This major development is part of the emergence of a new eco-district, Mareterra. A project launched by the Monegasque State and which will see the construction on 6 hectares of a marina and housing, shops and restaurants dotted with pine forests and green spaces. An environment in line with the sustainable ambitions of the Grimaldi Forum. Certified ISO 14001 since 2008, the congress center has, for example, since 2019, 1,500 photovoltaic panels to supply energy to the surrounding buildings and, soon, this new district.
