Julia Weiss reports from the MITTE district:
- The historian Thomas Irmer researches the history of forced labor in Berlin-Mitte. “A lot of things haven’t been processed to this day,” he says. At the time of National Socialism, every company employed forced laborers – these were concentration camp prisoners, prisoners of war, people who had been deported from Poland, Ukraine or France. Some companies no longer exist today, which makes research more difficult, says Irmer. There is currently an exhibition on this subject in the Mitte Museum.
