After Pentecost, the Tirol League enters the decisive phase with the last two rounds. Kundl conquers the top of the table with a 1:0 in Natters, Völs wins 2:0 in Kirchbichl, the General Union Innsbruck wins against SC Munster 4-2 and the IAC beat Zams 5-1. This lists the four teams that set the exclamation mark in spring 2022.
Motivation key to success
Aleksandar Matic, coach Generali Union Innsbruck: “Won again – it’s just unbelievable how the team has improved. We had 12 points when I got on and now it’s 38 and ninth in the table. I think the key to success is motivation, but the team also acted incredibly well tactically. Münster are strong opponents who made us very difficult with a back four. But we were able to take the lead very quickly in the third minute after a corner through Marko Stokic. In the 25th minute Daniel Nagraisalovic equalized for Munster. In the 41st minute a great long pass and the 2:1 – again Marko Stokic hits – wonderfully from 40 meters. Four minutes after the restart, a great action by Münster to make it 2-2 by Peter Kostenzer. In the second half, Nenad Markovic and Dominic Pece came into play. Then there was a breath of fresh air and Stefan Milenkovic made it 3-2 in the 62nd minute – a world-class goal with English style. Nenad Markovic scores two minutes later to make it 4:2 – that was the final score. I’m incredibly happy with the performances of our eleven – a big round of praise for the team!”

Football in the head, in the legs and in the heart
Somehow the fans of Union Innsbruck felt it in their hearts – they will go up in the table with Aleks Matic as coach. The law of the series is justified in this respect in football. But with Aleks Matic it’s more than the “usual” trainer effect – that’s no longer a secret. It’s already exciting to see what role the Union WILL play in the upcoming championship. In the second half of the season, the Union is currently fourth, one point behind the IAC, two behind Völs and five behind Kundl. But one mustn’t forget that Völs is the second big surprise in spring and when it comes to the fight for the title, Kundl is currently – but very surprisingly – in pole position.
