a nice concert in the cloister – L’Arno.it
A church, that of San Francesco, which is a symbol not only for the city of Pisa. Next Saturday he will celebrate 60 years, not of foundation but of consecration as a parish. Its history goes back a long way, or rather over the centuries, starting with its bell tower, built in the style of the ancient Pisan Tower Houses, that is, without foundations. But what the older Pisans remember of this sacred place is not only the church, but the cloister of the adjoining convent which in the immediate post-war period housed the so-called “City of boys”, A place of recreation, of teaching also of trades, but of sustenance for orphans and especially poor children, who also found a word of comfort here.
How can we forget the legendary 60s where the “4 Campanili” tournament competitions were held on the 7-a-side football pitch. It is also a breeding ground for players who should then land to famous champions. How can we forget the Franciscan fathers who took turns here in the management of the most needy and beyond. From father Piero, founder of the City of the most recent boys, father Ferruccio and father Umberto, who not infrequently you saw throwing a ball with the boys, pulling up a heavy habit.
And finally Father Natale, a concentrate of muscles and heart, always ready to lend a hand to everyone. It would take tomes after tomes to tell facts and anecdotes of this sacred place, so captivating that it is also frequented by unbelievers and anticlericals. Distant memories, for those who lived them but also handed down as they were Guareschian tales.
Therefore, the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Parish will also be a particularly touching moment, for the “survivors” of the City of Boys and the “Pallonari” of the 60s, who, during the concert organized for the occasion, will surely have the eyes particularly shiny.
The event scheduled for Saturday 11 June at 9.15 pm bears the name of “Baroque harmonies in the cloister” where the soprano Mirella Di Vita, the contralto Sabina Caponi, the oboe of Tommaso Guidi with the S. Francesco Choir and the Nova Orchestra Harmony directed by Enrico Nuti (pictured above) will make the baroque harmonies of the Concerto in D min resonate. for oboe by Alessandro Marcello, Domine Deus and Domine Deus, Agnus Dei from Gloria RV 589 and Magnificat RV 610a / 611 by Antonio Vivaldi.
The proceeds from the initiative will be donated to charity. Free donation admission starting at 8.45pm.
